Job Description

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a Engineering Project Manager to be based in Albuquerque, New Mexico . The successful candidate will work with Project Managers and other technical disciplines on all project phases to deliver a variety of water, wastewater, and conveyance projects. The Water/Wastewater Project Manager will support projects for water and wastewater clients primarily in the Albuquerque area, but to also include national projects. This job will require some project management responsibilities and the assistance of the project manager.

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing projects, including scoping, task management, invoicing and final closeout.

  • Planning, scheduling, conducting/coordinating detailed phases of engineering work of a major project, or several small-moderate scope projects.

  • Works mostly independently but receives basic instruction on specific assignments, objectives, complex features and possible solutions.

  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.

  • May supervise: senior level engineers (all disciplines applicable), as well as project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating and procurement representatives.

  • Technical resource; may serve as technical advisor for the team.

  • Communicates project tasks between offices – high level of coordination and communication skills required.

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.

  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

  • Oversees construction phase engineering services.

  • Coordinates with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering or related discipline plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Highly preferred Professional Engineering (PE) license in New Mexico or the ability to obtain one within first year of employment.

  • Experience working on municipal projects.

  • Experience working with local clients in the Albuquerque region is a plus.

  • Experience and familiarity with the following programs is preferred: ArcGIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, SWMM, InfoWater/Sewer, and/or Storm/Sewer/WaterCAD or similar programs.

  • Experience mentoring or supervising other engineering professionals.

  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with a diverse audience.

  • Positive attitude, good aptitude and strong initiative.

  • Proven leadership skills and demonstrated ability to successfully work with diverse teams.

  • Demonstrated proven track record of leading technical engineering and successfully managing water, wastewater and stormwater projects.

  • Relocation is not available for this role.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $85,000.00 - $130,000.00.
