Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity in

Afghanistan on the

EAGLE contract for a

Allied Trades Lead . The lead assists in leading, coordinating and directing entire work flow within the Allied Trades shop.Ensures all personnel are in compliance with government and corporate regulations to maintain quality standards.Accepts work orders and determines the process and materials needed for the work order. Provides the customer with updates on the progress of the work order.Instructs subordinates in new procedures and provides direction when problems arise. Reviews work upon completion to ensure product standards are met.

Ability to use and read accurately, various measurement devices i.e., Vernier calipers, micrometers, depth gauges and weld gauges to inspect all welding, fabrication, and machining.Plans work schedules, vacations and assists in counseling of subordinates. Provides guidance and technical assistance to shop personnel, on principles of workmanship procedures to be employed and quality of work standards.Coordinates with Allied Trades Supervisor when technical problems arise. Cross trains when required to ensure maximum flexibility, and possess technical skills in the development and maintenance of quality programs.Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the AC FIRST Safety Policies and Procedures. Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.

Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the AC FIRST Quality Management System.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • NACI / Tier 1.

  • Valid Driver’s license required.

  • May be required to obtain a military driver’s license (OF 346).

  • Must be able to pass General Trades Skill PQS within 30 days of hire.

  • American Welding Society (AWS) certification or equivalent.

  • GCSS-Army Certification required.

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.

  • 4-5 years’ experience in Allied Trades, is required.

  • 1-3 years’ experience in one or more areas of Welding, Machine Shop, Auto body, Paint shop and Fabrication/Manufacturing environment required.

  • Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.

  • Must possess knowledge of proper welding and machine shop procedures.

  • Must possess thorough knowledge of Army/Military technical publications.

  • Must be able to communicate in English, both oral and written.

  • Must understand blueprints, manufacturing diagrams and CAD related programs. Accurately uses and reads various measurement devices such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, weld gauges and tools at the unit and DS/GS level.

  • Possess knowledge of metals and the use of them in various applications

  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively during a 77 hour work week.

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. continuously, 50 intermittently.

  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.

  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade School preferred.
