Job Description

AECOM is seeking a CAD Technician for our Baton Rouge, LA office. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to work on Water projects that improve and enhance the local communities. Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Works under direct supervision performing moderately complex technical work utilizing instructions, drawings, sketches and results from computer systems and schematics.

  • May be involved in training and supervising technical personnel.

  • May perform some data entry.

  • Ability to identify a variety of map types.

  • Understanding of workplace ethics

  • Explain and demonstrate basic CADD techniques.

  • Identify standard sheet sizes and scale formats.

  • Understanding of file organization and management.

  • Knowledge of U.S. National CAD standards for architecture, engineering, and construction

  • Layer naming standards.

  • Knowledge of drawing templates

  • How to use symbols and symbols libraries.

  • Knowledge file management.

  • Define map scale for Civil and Structural drawing files.

  • Draw plot plans from engineering sketches and given information.

  • Use map symbols to draw a map from given information and create symbols when required.

  • Identify different types of surveys and the maps created by them.

  • Draw a traverse from given information.

  • Draw contour maps (existing & proposed).

  • Create horizontal alignment design with tangent curves using civil CADD software.

  • Construct profile drawings using contour maps and surfaces.

  • Construct cross-section drawings using cross section survey data.

  • Generate civil/structural engineering and detail drawings from sketches.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical or vocational degree or certificate for drafting or CAD

  • Experience with CAD Civil 3D or other design software

  • Familiarity with construction document management systems.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Knowledge of Geographic, UTM & State Plane coordinate systems.

  • Knowledge of CADD and GIS transfer file formats.

  • How to use AutoCAD & MicroStation software's.

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $18.00/hour - $25.00/hour.
