Job Description

The Senior Quantity Surveyor acts as project leader, supervising and delivering all aspects of cost management from the inception of a project through to completion. Is intrinsically involved in projects and ensures effective delivery input of others. Guides Candidate Quantity Surveyors and independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete design works.

Technical Excellence:

  • Facilitates over and coordinates small - mid-size projects

  • Liaises with the Project Executive and the client body to establish and implement a clear project brief

  • Accountable for a variety of complex deliverables throughout the lifecycle of a project

  • Briefs the team on the project scope to ensure roles and responsibilities are understood

  • Manages the resources on a project and within the established budget

  • Complies with all QA requirements and benchmarks project data

  • Working in conjunction with Executives to assist with the management of the office.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Begins to build and maintain client relationships.

  • Attends client meetings as technical support to gather information and discuss project requirements, explain/ defend work, etc.

  • Participates in the development and preparation of bids and proposals

  • Presents solutions to clients in a professional and technically competent manner.

Core Responsibilities

  • Accountable for a variety of complex tasks covering:

  • Show interest towards or have experience in the MEP side of Quantity surveying .

  • Mechanical: HVAC Systems, Fire Protection , Fire Detection.

  • Electrical: Lighting, Small Power , MV and LV Installations , Containment.

  • Plumbing & Piping and the like.

  • Willing and eager to learn.

  • Professional work etiquette at all times

  • Conducts surveys to ascertain the locations of natural features and human-made structures on the earth's surface, underground, and underwater, using electronic distance-measuring equipment and other surveying instruments.

  • Operates and manages land-information computer systems, performs tasks such as storing data, making inquiries, and producing plots and reports.

  • Reviews information from survey teams regarding measurement of distances, directions, angles between points and elevation of points, lines, and contours on, above, and below the earth’s surface.

  • Researches legal records, looks for evidence of previous boundaries, and analyzes the data to determine the location of boundary lines.

  • Records the results of surveys, verifies the accuracy of data, and prepares plots, maps, and reports.

  • An experienced professional with general understanding of area of specialization.

  • Normally receives instruction on routine work.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Years of experience: 5 - 10 years in a similar role post-graduation

  • Must be a Professional registered Quantity Surveyor with the SACQSP

Preferred Qualifications :

  • BSc/BTech (Quantity Surveying) or BSc Quantity Surveying (Hons)
