Job Description
AECOM is seeking an On-call Railway Bridge Construction Inspector to be based in Burnaby.
This is an as & when contract position. Project locations, durations, hours of work, and other details will be determined and discussed on a project-specific basis.
The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to:
Act as a central liaison between AECOM, clients, and contractors.
Monitor the quality of work done by contractors constructing bridges, structures, new grade, tracks and turnouts.
Review contractor reports.
Review contractor work plans.
Inspect the quality of materials used on-site and determine compliance with specifications.
Evaluate the progress of the project to determine if time schedules and payment requirements are being met.
Monitor contractor safety programs to assess that client requirements are met.
Evaluation, inspection and reporting on existing tracks and making recommendations for maintenance and renewal projects.
May also participate in the preparation of the bid documents, cost estimating and evaluation of contractors and will administer and direct the construction phase.
Review with project designers and contractors to ensure that procedures are followed and that contractors are in compliance with project plans and specifications.
Coordinate surveying, as required for quantity measurements or quality assurance.
Qualifications
* Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelor Degree + 4 years of relevant experience in road or railway or heavy civil construction OR Diploma/ Certificate + 6 years of relevant experience OR Highschool + 8 years of relevant experience in road or railway or heavy civil construction
* Preferred Qualifications :
5+ years railway bridge &/or roadway bridge construction supervision experience
P.Eng, CET, or certifications in Contract Administration would be an asset.
Field experience in a railway environment, including familiarity with CN or CPKC operating procedures
Proficient with Word, Excel, and other reporting software.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $44.00/hour - $57.00/hour.
