AECOM Fire Protection Engineer in Carlsbad, New Mexico

Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to be based in our Carlsbad, New Mexico location.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day support of the Fire Protection Engineering/Life Safety Systems Engineering Program through a variety of engineering and analytical assignments at the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Waste Isolation Pilot Plant’s (WIPP) underground mine and surface facilities. Application of Fire Protection Engineering principles to problems ranging from simple code consulting to unique and complex technical problems. Tasks include application of codes and standards, evaluation of fire protection programs and facilities or development and implementation of fire protection programs, fire protection systems support including minor design modifications or recommendations. Fire Protection engineering project support ranging from small focused scope to large, multimillion dollar one-of-a-kind projects. May include computer modeling of fire, egress or other fire related or influenced phenomena. May serve as Cognizant Systems Engineer in one or more of six fire protection system categories onsite. Assist in revising and approved FPE site procedures.
Master of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with three (3) years of related experience, or
Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with five (5) years of related experience is required.
For candidates with a Mechanical Engineering Degree, strong fire protection experience is required.
Strong analytical and fire hazards analysis skills are mandatory.
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.
Department of Energy or Commercial Nuclear Facility experience is desired.
NICET Level II or III in any fire protection discipline or Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred.
