Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking an
Protective Force Captain to be based in our Carlsbad, New Mexico location.
The successful candidate will serve as a Security Police Officer, Captain for the Protective Force (PF) Section at the Department of Energy Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. Responsible for the supervising, developing, and mentoring of all PF members at a Category 2 nuclear facility in compliance with DOE Order 473.3A, Protection Program Operations and other applicable regulations. Must be able to supervise and manage the Security Operations independently during times of limited staffing. Must be able to lead Security Police Officers during hostile situations and respond in a tactically and offensive/defensive manner to defuse security related threats. Must be willing to be on-call status. Respond to security/non-security related incidents and interface/coordinate with other first-responders. Investigate security-related incidents and interview witnesses, reporting persons, and victims, and complete detailed Security Incident Reports. Must be willing to conduct/supervise vehicle and foot patrols and detect unusual activities; control vehicle and pedestrian traffic and restrict access to those without proper identification and access authorization; operate government vehicles, communications equipment, camera systems, and other special purpose security equipment and systems; enforce standards of conduct and adherence to laws, orders, and regulations; ensure that daily administrative documentation is kept concise and complete at all times; maintain all daily assigned equipment in functional and presentable condition; and/or other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager. Understand and embrace nuclear safety culture principles.
Associates' degree in criminal justice or related field, plus nine (9) years of related professional experience in physical security, security or law enforcement, or
High School Diploma or GED with thirteen (13) years of related experience is required.
Seven (7) years of experience managing/supervising security/law enforcement personnel.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” Clearance.
Must have a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
Must be able to demonstrate effective oral, analytical, written, and communications skills. Must have practical experience and be proficient in software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Outlook.
Candidate must pass the medical test and the Basic Readiness Standards (BRS) in accordance with Title 10, Code of Federal Regulation 1046. A successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to pass the BRS prior to the first day of employment. The BRS consists of completing the half-mile in 4.40 minutes and the 40-yard dash in 8.5 seconds.
Continued employment requires successful completion of the Basic Security Police Officers Training Course.
Due to the nature of work, candidates must be US Citizens.
