Job Summary

Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking an

Underground Mechanic to be based in our Carlsbad, New Mexico location.

The successful candidate will perform corrective, expedited, and preventative maintenance on underground mining, hoisting, and waste handling equipment and systems. Perform a variety of complex mechanical tasks. Perform special and emergency assignments, recognizing urgency and need to complete assignments in a safe and compliant manner. Attain and maintain the qualifications and training necessary to perform field maintenance. Advise management of unusual problems or situations within assigned mechanical maintenance areas and suggest appropriate solutions. Review drawings, procedures and specifications to assure compliance with code requirements. Suggest revisions as necessary. Follow all safety procedures, regulations and policies. Conduct frequent inspections of work area to ensure that safe working conditions are maintained. Promptly report any hazards or unsafe conditions to management. Perform similar and related duties as assigned. Must maintain qualifications and training to perform assigned duties. Will follow written procedures verbatim.

This is a bargaining unit position.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED

  • Four years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience in a commercial or industrial environment or four years of industrial maintenance training/education is required.

  • Due to the nature of work, candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mine Maintenance experience preferred.

  • Underground experience preferred.
