Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an Editor to support our team in Chantilly, VA at a Full Time capacity. The successful candidate will plan, design, edit, and proofread translated documents for internal distribution, customer reference, or publication. This position requires the ability to speak and understand Arabic.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Edit reports, publications and correspondence to ensure clarity of content, consistency of format and accuracy of grammar.

  2. Responsible for quality control, production and distribution of documents in accordance with schedules.

  3. Apply working knowledge of various style guides including in-depth knowledge of customer specifications and instructions regarding documentation and publication standards.

  4. Utilize personal computers with integrated software packages.

  5. Assist in the production and distribution of documents.

  6. Maintain a filing system of documents and work order files for documents received for processing.

  7. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be of US Citizenship.

  • Must be fluent in Arabic.

  • Excellent command of English grammar and composition.

  • English fluency

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to interact with multinational and multicultural employees.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and turn around short-fuse requests without sacrificing accuracy.

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and familiarity with online dictionaries, and other reference tools.

  • Ability to discern information of value and write an abstract in a succinct, understandable format that follows applicable operational and style guidelines.

  • Bachelor's degree in English literature or social sciences or more than 5 years of work experience with portfolio of writing composition available for examination.

  • Knowledge of current international affairs and the dynamics of US relations with major regional and international players.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience editing translated texts for clarity and accuracy.

  • Experience providing clear and fair feedback to linguists in person and electronically.

  • Working knowledge of foreign language, preferably European languages.

  • Experience in effectively performing work in a time-sensitive environment and working multiple actions simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of international, particularly European, affairs.
