Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Entry-Level Geotechnical/ Structural Engineer for immediate employment in the Oshkosh, Green Bay, or Milwaukee, Wisconsin or Chicago, Illinois offices .

This position is expected to begin in September/October 2024.

The successful candidate will have a background in civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical/structural engineering. Relocation to the Oshkosh, Green Bay, or Milwaukee, Wisconsin or Chicago, Illinois area is required for this role, as it is not a remote position.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct site visits and perform inspections of existing structures.

  • Oversee geotechnical drilling operations.

  • Log and classify soil samples and prepare formal boring logs.

  • Prepare detailed documentation, including photo logs and repair recommendations.

  • Develop structural calculations for various elements (e.g., concrete slabs, walls, foundations).

  • Perform geotechnical calculations (e.g., slope stability analyses, seepage analyses, bearing pressure, settlement).

  • Collaborate with drafting staff to create construction drawings.

  • Review Requests for Information (RFIs) during the construction phase and adjust designs as needed.

  • Computer-aided design support for various types of projects.

  • Supports report preparation, site reconnaissance, and communications with multi-disciplinary AECOM project team.

  • Conducts engineering design and analysis under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Creates designs, models, calculations, sketches, diagrams, drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

  • Understanding and applying regulations to develop standards and theories necessary to carry out project design and permitting work.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering or related engineering field.

  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is a requirement.

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant years of Civil Engineering experience.

  • Demonstrated experience using AutoCAD and/or Civil3D for civil engineering.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred (not required).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Strong organizational, technical, and communications skills.

  • Commitment to working efficiently to complete tasks within allotted schedule constraints.

  • Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.

  • Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects.

  • Willingness to travel, complete field work, and work extended hours, when necessary.

Additional Information

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

  • Travel of 10% to job site is required for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $55,029.50 - $75,665.57.
