Job Description

AECOM Hunt has an opportunity for a Quality Specialist to serve as a resource to the project team for our exciting project in Chicago, IL.

  • This position requires continuous, prioritized training and mentoring by the QA/QC Vice President and other Quality Managers and Directors.

  • Participate in Submittal and Shop Drawing reviews, Initial Trade Pre-Construction Meetings, and Trade Pre-installation meetings, as well as frequent job site walkthroughs and reporting.

  • Confers with superiors on unusual matters.

  • Leads project-wide system audits, as directed by a more senior Quality Assurance Specialist or Program Manager.

  • Writes quality plans, procedures and audit checklists.

  • Verify quality standards and test procedures for the design and product evaluation to attain quality economically and efficiently.

  • Provides quality assurance support to ensure that products are acquired and installed in accordance with customer and company quality requirements.

  • Ensure sampling plans, quality standards and quality control instructions are utilized in assessing the quality levels of projects and processes.

  • Documents evaluation, testing and correction.

  • Provides recommendations concerning the disposition of defective materials and maintains a continuous awareness of quality problems.

  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.

  • Under general supervision, possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures to the completion of difficult assignments.

  • Completes assignments that are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.

  • May provide technical guidance to lower-level engineers, technicians and inspectors.

Qualifications

. Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS architecture, Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management or similar curriculum and 2 years of experience in quality management or AA/AS and 4 years of relevant experience or HSD/GED 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of the construction delivery process.

  • Comfortable working with Construction Documents and Submittals.

  • Comfortable with interacting with Construction Team members and Tradespeople.

  • Work with the Trade Contractor’s Quality Team’s documentation and project-specific testing and/or

  • inspection requirements.

  • Knowledge of ASTM standards and knowledge of construction testing procedures.

  • Experience with building codes is a plus, but it is not required.

  • Experience in all construction-related trades, such as building envelopes, life safety, and flooring.

  • MEP+FP knowledge is a plus.

  • Committed to creating a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Able to research, learn quickly, and communicate that knowledge with individuals of different levels of understanding.

  • •Be able to learn to provide a practical understanding of why things go wrong in the design and construction

  • phases and the ability to direct the project team as needed.

  • Must be able to visit and work within an active multi-level construction site, including the use of ladders.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $65,182.00 - $114,069.00.
