Job Summary

AECOM Technical Services (TS) is seeking a

Structural Designer to be based in our Denver, CO location.

The Designer is responsible for initiating and developing engineering drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline engineers. Works under the direction of the Design Supervisor and the Supervising Discipline Engineer (SDE), coordinates work with all other disciplines on an assigned project.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Develops and maintains plant 3D / BIM model,

  2. Develops engineering drawings and sketches of moderate complexity.

  3. Checks and reviews home discipline drawings.

  4. Reviews other discipline drawings and vendor drawings.

  5. Coordinates work with other project team members.

  6. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in computer aided drafting with a structural emphasis or equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years of progressive structural design and or fabrication experience

  • Heavy industrial steel and concrete design experience necessary.

  • Capable with 2D and 3D plant design experience.

  • In depth knowledge of design development, modeling, drawing preparation, and checking work flow.

  • Working knowledge of engineering calculations and information required on design drawings is required.

  • Working knowledge of material estimating methods.

  • Must have experience in performing structural Material Take Off (MTO) activities using manual methods and computer applications.

  • Must have working knowledge of general 3D modeling software.

  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD or other general plant modeling/drafting CAD software platform is necessary.

  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of structural framing systems

  • Working knowledge of building and equipment foundation systems.

  • Working knowledge of model interference detection and resolution

  • Reinforced concrete mat and slab experience.

  • Working knowledge of Tekla Structures including advanced coursework.

  • Working knowledge of Tekla connection design and steel detailing.

  • Working knowledge of Smart Plant3D.

  • Basic knowledge of MicroStation and PDS FrameWorks software.

  • Basic knowledge of the change control process and procedures.

  • Working knowledge of Revit software.

  • Due to the nature of the work, Candidate must be a US citizen.
