Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Material Engineer to join our team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As a Material Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and performance of materials used in our projects, contributing to the success of our engineering initiatives in the region.
Conduct and oversee material testing procedures in both onsite and offsite laboratories
Analyze test results and prepare comprehensive reports on material properties and performance
Collaborate with project teams to ensure material specifications meet project requirements
Review and provide feedback on contractors' quality plans, method statements, and inspection test plans
Monitor material sampling and testing processes to ensure compliance with industry standards
Perform statistical analysis on test results and report findings to the Quality Specialist
Assist in the development and implementation of quality control and assurance processes
Coordinate with General Engineering Consultants (GECs) on work priorities and schedules
Provide technical advice and guidance on material-related issues to project teams
Stay updated on the latest advancements in material engineering and testing methodologies
Contribute to the continuous improvement of material testing and quality control procedures
Mentor junior team members and share knowledge on best practices in material engineering
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in material engineering, with a focus on construction materials
Proficiency in AASHTO, ASTM, and BS Standard Methods of Sampling and Testing
Strong knowledge of laboratory set-up, organization, and operations
Experience in reviewing and commenting on technical documents such as quality plans and method statements
Proven ability to perform statistical analysis and interpret test results
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and coordination abilities
Proficiency in materials testing software and equipment
Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Dubai and the UAE
Experience working in a multicultural environment
Willingness to perform occasional site visits and inspections as required
Certification in materials testing or quality control (preferred)
