Job Description

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Environmental Engineer to join our Minneapolis, Minnesota Remediation team. We are seeking candidates who will be able to immediately contribute to the successful delivery of existing projects and promote growth in existing and new markets. You will work with a large team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting, design, and implementation services to our key clients.

Responsibilities for this position may include the following:

  • Task management for field activities consisting of soil, groundwater, soil gas, and sediment sample collection for contaminated sites.

  • Utilization of basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop remedial approaches for soil and groundwater impact, including feasibility studies, corrective action work plans, and remediation design plans.

  • Analysis of existing remediation systems for optimization and trouble shooting.

  • Interpretation and recording of data, conducting analyses, comparing findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Preparation of written reports, work plans, and technical memorandums with analysis of data and development of supported conclusions.

  • Preparation of proposals and costs estimates for new opportunities.

  • Execution of fieldwork by directing and overseeing individual or multiple contractors (laboratory, drillers, surveyors, excavation contractors).

  • Liaison support with clients/client representatives, site facilities, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.

  • Health and safety planning and hazard recognition.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, geological engineering or related field AND minimum 2 years of experience in environmental remediation consulting industry or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

  • Master’s degree in chemical, civil, or environmental engineering or related field.

  • Experience in PFAS field investigation and data evaluation.

  • Already passed FE exam and has EIT status, along with being able to obtain PE certification within 12 months of accepting position.

  • Experience working on environmental remediation projects including field sampling, data analysis, report writing, task management, cost estimate and proposal development, project implementation and execution.

  • Experience implementing rigorous safety standards and ensuring compliance.

  • Experience working within a dynamic team framework, in-person, and virtual settings.

  • Experience with environmental remediation systems (groundwater pump and treat systems, excavation, various pilot tests, PFAS treatment systems, etc.).

  • Experience implementing various remedial strategies to achieve No Further Remediation (in-situ remediation, institutional, engineering, and administrative controls).

  • Strong research and report writing (including web-based research).

  • Excellent written and verbal skills.

  • Strong quality and time management.

  • Self-starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative.

  • Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable meeting with clients, regulatory case managers, colleagues, and sub-contractors alike.

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $70,000.00 - $85,000.00.
