Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities
Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Approves and signs off on work.
Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
Participates in development of technical proposals.
Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.
Oversees and coordinates HVAC system design for complex projects.
Develops and implements energy-efficient HVAC solutions.
Mentors and guides junior engineers in HVAC design principles.
Ensures compliance with local and national building codes and regulations.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate HVAC systems with other building components.
Conducts site visits to assess existing HVAC systems and recommend improvements.
Stays current with industry trends and emerging technologies in HVAC design.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field + 15years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Professional Engineering (PE) license in HVAC
Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, design principles, and energy-efficient solutions
Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Trane TRACE)
Strong understanding of building codes and ASHRAE standards
Excellent project management and leadership skills
Superior communication and presentation abilities
Demonstrated experience in managing mid to large-size HVAC projects
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
LEED AP certification
Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Knowledge of sustainable design practices and renewable energy systems
Familiarity with commissioning processes
Experience in mentoring junior engineers
Active participation in professional organizations (e.g., ASHRAE, USGBC)
