Job Summary

AECOM seeks a Gender Specialist for an anticipated USAID program in South Sudan. The Promoting Civic Engagement and Peace project will complement and enhance the rest of the USAID/South Sudan portfolio by promoting stability, local solutions, and citizen participation to mitigate conflict, advance reconciliation efforts, increase access to information, and empower civil society.

General responsibilities:

  • Support the gender assessment process.

  • Support communication strategies towards promoting gender sensitivity across the program;

  • Seek out partners that are women led and/or support women and human rights activities;

  • Coordinate the identification of activities and policies that impact gender equity and women’s rights;

  • Advise management team on potential areas of gender related interventions;

  • Coordinating with the program staff to support women capacity building efforts;

Minimum Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience implementing gender programming.

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience implementing in South Sudan.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • Fluent in written and spoken Juba Arabic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in South Sudan

  • Experience in East Africa region--particularly working on issues around political, ethnic, and religious conflict.

  • Ability to excel in cross-cultural settings

  • Fluency in USAID program management systems
