Purpose and Scope:
EMI/EMC Engineer: This is considered an advanced level engineering position that requires a high level of expertise in electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing (MIL STD 461 and appropriate commercial standards). Responsibilities include conceptual thinking; investigation to further knowledge in a field; formulating experimental methods; reviewing, improving and approving technical work; guiding technical approaches; and analysis of complex systems. For radio-frequency (RF) testing, also be very familiar with the test equipment; Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generator, Power Meters and Network Analyzers as well as with antenna patterns and pointing antennas as well as general knowledge of radios. Be able to work with EML customers as well as other government agencies with MIL STD 461. Be able to defend the testing approach and help the customers solve complex EMI problems. Need to be proactive and solve problems. Must be a team player and work with a small team and be a leader bringing that team together so they are recognized by NASA across the agency as being the best in EMI testing. This position takes initiative and a willing to be the best in the field.
Performs a range of design, development, test, analysis, or review tasks independently.
Generate complete design specifications for the most complex projects.
May train other engineers on technical issues related to the research, design, development, testing and analysis of engineering assignments.
Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
May organize and supervise a group of employees for a given project, contract or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule, technical and employee performance.
Perform other related or associated duties as required.

Bachelor’s in Engineering or a related scientific field with 10 years of related experience. iNARTE certification.
Kennedy Space Center experience supporting NASA Electromagnetic Laboratory (EML).
