Job Summary

Purpose and Scope:

This position performs sampling and analysis of a wide variety of aerospace related fluids (hypergolics, cryogens and high pressure gases) used at KSC and CCAFS. This position delivers samples to the laboratory for analysis to more stringent purity specifications. Performs duties in compliance with Federal, State, Local, NASA and other governing regulations and requirements and KSC energy management, conservation regulations, collective bargaining agreement, security, safety hurricane and specialized programs or contractual requirements relating to the business of the section with the limits of established policy.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Operates sampling equipment to obtain samples from various KSC and CCAFS areas and delivers to the laboratory.

  • Performs specified on-site analysis utilizing devices such as voltmeter, temperature and humidity measuring instruments, flow meters, contamination counters, leak rate probes, recorders and gas regulator panels.

  • Transports toxic propellant hardware from various work areas to decontamination and cleaning facilities.

  • Set-ups, prepares, repairs and maintains sampling equipment for certification and calibration.

  • Maintains work records, records sample system data and assists in preparation and evaluation of sampling procedures.

  • Prepares reports and informs supervision of problem areas pertaining to operations, quality and safety.

  • Performs other classification related and associated duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years of experience in sampling aerospace related commodities. Previous experience and required skills must include extensive knowledge of sampling procedures and equipment used to sample and analyze gases and liquids. Must possess or be able to obtain Florida Class C Commercial Driver’s License. Must be able to achieve KSC level of proficiency and meet physical requirements in SCAPE, fuel handling, respirator use and motor vehicle operations.
