Position Title Assistant Controller

Purpose and Scope:
Assist in the direction and administration of Company financial operations. Administer approved accounting practices throughout the organization to ensure that financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information necessary to control operations.
Manage multiple accounting functions, including responsibility for unit wide payroll, preparation and issuance of reports and statistics reflecting financial results.
Supervise all work in general ledger, financial reporting, invoicing and project entry, accounts payable, travel, subcontractor accounting, union accounting, and payroll.
Test, install, modify and maintain accounting systems.
Preparation and issuance of financial statements, tax reports and other internal and external reports as required.
Responsible for backup assistance to general ledger, invoicing and project entry, travel, subcontractor accounting, union accounting, and payroll; must be versed in the accounting month end closing processes.
Prepare Incurred Cost Submissions and provide audit support to DCAA.
Responsible for sales tax and other non-income tax filings.
Interface with MIS departments and other internal departments supporting financial systems.
Interface with Government, corporate and external auditors on a regular basis.
Be proficient in maintaining the interrelationship between work units.
Make modifications to existing procedures or systems as necessary.
Work closely with other AECOM senior accounting management in ensuring all activities conform to applicable guidelines, laws and policies.
Review and control records of the financial accounts, books, and reports relating to accounting activities.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and at least 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent. Possess recognized knowledge and proficiency within the Finance unit. Possess in-depth knowledge about business in general, the industry and the company's services. Possess good written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. Position may require occasional travel. Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Possess a valid state issued driver’s license.
