Job Description

AECOM is searching for an Instrumentation & Automation Engineer for full-time employment based in the Markham, ON office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide SCADA, Control Systems and Ethernet Network design.

  • Develop, test and commission PLC/SCADA applications. Implement Software Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.

  • Prepare contract documents, including drawings and specifications, I/O lists and instrument data sheet.

  • Provide conceptual and/or detailed engineering of process instrumentation and control systems. Assist other designers in development of process monitoring and control strategies including the preparation of P&IDs, Process Control Narratives, and hardware and software design specifications.

  • Coordinate with Engineers, Designers, CAD staff, Project Managers and other disciplines as required.

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with AECOM QA/QC programs.

  • Ensure that project needs are met in an effective and timely manner.

  • Work within a multi-discipline team to design, develop and implement efficient and reliable SCADA/Control Systems.

  • Resolve site queries, attend site meetings and perform site inspections during the construction phase of projects.

  • Work with Department and Project Managers and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each project.

  • Be accountable to provide all activities in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including all of AECOM’s policies and procedures, such as Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of related experience or Diploma/Certificate + 4 years of related experience related to Instrumentation, Controls and Process Automation

  • Be knowledgeable of process automation, instrumentation, electrical schematics, PLC platforms, communication protocols, SCADA systems and their integration with information management systems.

  • Experience with Rockwell Software Logix PLC programming

  • Availability to travel, and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Excellent computer skills (AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Access, etc.).

  • PLC programming experience with GE, Allen-Bradley, Schneider

  • SCADA software development experience with Wonderware, FactoryTalk View, GE iFix, Ignition

  • Able to organize workload and multiple project deadlines.

  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, able to work effectively under tight schedules in a fast paced integrated team environment.

  • Have or be eligible for Professional Engineer licensure in the Province of Ontario.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with clients, the design team, and contractors in the resolution of project related issues.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Previous experience in the Instrumentation and Automation field, preferably in the Water/Wastewater industry.

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $68,000.00 - $115,000.00.
