Under the supervision of the Construction Branch Manager and Deputy Construction Branch Manager, the Renovations Dayshift Supervisor will organize, plan, coordinate and supervise activities of subordinate personnel assigned to the maintenance repair, alteration and minor/major construction of building structures and installed equipment. Following the established customer work standards and priorities set by the Branch Manager(s).
Observe all phases of the work process to determine compliance with technical specifications, instructions, safety regulations and precautions.
Review estimates, prepares sketches and reports on labor expenditures and materials used.
Coordinate with Management, Estimators, Project Managers, lead workers and the craftsmen for the accomplishment of quality workmanship in all completed work.
Have comprehension of the construction process and the requirements necessary to schedule the appropriate tradesmen.
Have excellent communication and rapport building skills.
Assist in preparation of sketches and procedures for construction renovations and related work.
Responsible for administration functions of directly related to the supervision of assigned personnel within the Branch.
Approve and prioritize job orders within established guidelines.
Assist in the review process of man-hour and material estimates for the Construction Branch.
Provide status information on work received, in progress, backlog, and work assignments completed.
Supervise and evaluate work performance of assigned personnel.
Implement QC and Safety Plans at the Section level, conducts inspections of completed work and work in progress.
Review and prepare material requisitions and coordinates ordering long lead items with the logistics personnel.
Maintain records of project folders received, job orders processed, planned and completed work.
Responsible for GFE used in the performance of work for the Section; maintains custody records, inventory reports. Reports to Branch Manager when GFE is damaged, lost or stolen.
Assure compliance with standards for job safety, precautions, and accident prevention.
Perform after hours, weekend and emergency call back service as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Read, write, speak and understand the English language.
Lift/carry up to 75 pounds.
Be willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.
High school diploma or equivalent. Journeyman’s Certificate from State of Virginia, Maryland or District of Columbia as Electrician, Plumber, HVAC Mechanic, or similar qualification highly preferred.
10+ years of supervisory experience of tradesmen. Must have knowledge of computer-based facilities management software and of standard and construction practices pertaining to commercial buildings.
Must be a U.S. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with customers.
Knowledge of Quality Control/ Quality Assurance practices.
