Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Carbon & Climate Change Manager to join our team. This position is based on-site, out of Mississauga. We are seeking professionals to join our team to help us build one of the most advanced, sustainable and passenger-friendly airports in the world.
Major Requirements:
Provides advisory support and quality review on climate change and carbon management for various design and construction programs, with a focus on implementing Net Zero strategies.
Ensures alignment of climate change and carbon management approaches with our vision for a sustainable, Net Zero, and environmentally responsible future.
Verifies that facility designs incorporate self-sustaining circular ecosystems, energy-efficient strategies, reduced embodied carbon, clean energy use, and necessary infrastructure to minimize overall carbon footprint and achieve Net-Zero GHG emissions.
Supports the advancement of Net Zero building and facility designs, including the review and interpretation of Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for carbon impact.
Oversees the work of the Resiliency Planning Specialist, ensuring regular updates to climate forecasts and maintaining infrastructure resilience against projected climate-related extreme weather events.
Collaborates with Stakeholder Relations and Communications (SR&C) and external partners to align carbon and climate strategies across all aspects of sustainability planning.
Minimum Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:
University Degree in engineering, planning, or sustainability field and 8 years of experience in the environmental, energy, or sustainable design sectors.
Experience delivering sustainability outcomes within the infrastructure sector.
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
Preferred Requirements:
10 years of professional experience in the environmental, energy, or sustainable design sectors.
5 years of proven experience delivering sustainability outcomes within the infrastructure sector; experience with large, complex programs is considered a strong asset.
Comprehensive understanding of sustainability and Net Zero principles, with a particular focus on decarbonization strategies across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
In-depth knowledge of sustainability and ESG frameworks, including Net Zero GHG strategies, climate accounting methodologies, and applicable management and disclosure standards.
Familiarity with Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) frameworks, including GHG reporting and disclosure requirements.
Demonstrated experience in conducting life cycle assessments (LCA) for buildings and infrastructure, and in developing Net Zero carbon designs utilizing low-carbon materials.
Strong technical expertise across all project phases, with the ability to address complex challenges through analytical thinking and data-driven problem-solving.
