Job Description
AECOM Buildings + Places, AECOM’s Architectural business, is seeking a Interior Designer to join our team. This position could be based out of any of our Greater Toronto Area offices with remote/hybrid work options permitted.
AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects.
Major Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for initiating and developing design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline leaders.
Under direct supervision, may complete design assignments of limited complexity.
Limited familiarity with codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline.
Introduced to the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedures.
Basic understanding of the purpose and use of vendor documents.
Initiate and develop design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline leads
Exercise sound judgment in assessing problem situations or complex design issues and use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions
Review discipline supplier documents and other discipline’s supplier documents for accuracy
Perform thorough and accurate material take-offs for the discipline
Prepare designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures
Review completed work with design and drafting personnel responsible for its completion to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design data
Understand and assist with the planning and scheduling of design tasks associated with assigned project
Assist in interpreting industry codes, permits, and standards, and ensures design and drawing compliance
Field visits and site surveys
Collaborate on project teams that may include Interior Designers, Architects, Engineers, Cost Estimators, Project Administrators, Contractors, and Clients
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:
Bachelors Degree or + no less than 4 (four) years minimum of relevant experience in Interior Design.
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
Preferred Requirements:
Extensive, progressive experience in Interior Design.
Excellent communications skills for interfacing with clients.
Bachelor’s degree in interior design or architecture.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Interior Design or related field
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Experience in project construction documentation using Revit
Proficient in SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suites products, Enscape, or other related graphic software
Knowledge of project design and construction documentation and materials
Portfolio submission required to demonstrate skill set

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $85,000.00 - $120,000.00.
