Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer & Deputy Manager to join our team. This position is based on-site, out of Mississauga . We are seeking professionals to join our team to help us build one of the most advanced, sustainable and passenger-friendly airports in the world.
Major Responsibilities:
Assists the Manager of Airside and Infrastructure Engineering (AIE) in leading and overseeing the AIE team to support business objectives by:
Prioritizing and distributing team tasks while managing workload efficiently.
Supervising and coordinating design and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client-specific requirements, including the Airport Construction Code.
Ensuring timely completion of quality reviews for proposed renovations, alterations, maintenance, and new construction projects in alignment with program requirements.
Managing condition assessments and reviewing annual updates to rolling five-year restoration programs for civil assets, including budget estimations for capital planning.
Identifying safety risks proactively and advocating for necessary resolutions.
Providing technical guidance and support to the team as needed.
Collaborating with and delivering high-level customer service to Planning & Engineering, Capital Delivery, Commercial Activation teams, and key stakeholders such as Operations and Maintenance.
Reviewing, documenting, and enhancing processes and workflows to eliminate inefficiencies and optimize team performance.
Developing pilot projects and funding proposals for new technologies, methodologies, and advancements in civil/structural design and construction to minimize construction time and operational disruptions.
Coordinating SME assessments, reviews, and updates of AIE standards and specifications.
Representing the AIE Manager in meetings and offering technical expertise as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:
University Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in structural engineering + 6 years of relevant experience in the design, construction, and commissioning of major developments or restoration/retrofit projects, including large-scale airport civil infrastructure and facilities.
Leadership experience.
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
Preferred Requirements:
A relevant professional designation is considered an asset.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in the design, construction, and commissioning of major developments or restoration/retrofit projects, including large-scale airport civil infrastructure and facilities.
At least 5 years of leadership experience, with the ability to manage multiple civil engineering sub-disciplines such as Structural, Municipal, and Transportation.
Extensive experience in applying major Canadian design codes and standards.
In-depth knowledge of best practices, industry trends, and advancements in civil engineering methods and technologies, with the ability to drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
Strong understanding of contract terms, contract management, and familiarity with construction law.
Experience in restoration programming and the application of asset management principles for diverse civil infrastructure.
Proficiency in various software applications, including Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
Ability to develop, implement, and update schedules and priorities for team management while keeping managers or program leads informed.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings and workshops involving large groups of stakeholders.
Additional Information
This position requires work on-site/out of the office 5 days a week.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $185,000.00.
