Job Description

The Electrical Inspector will observe and accept installation of new main sewage pumps, electrical distribution systems, including electrical switchgear, substations, motor control centers, panelboards, electrical cabling with electrical trays and conduits, and communication systems and cabling. Installation of heating and ventilation, heat recovery and air conditioning. New electrical distribution systems will be installed at existing Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) in various buildings, underground tunnels, and below-grade duct banks. The Construction Inspector will have the primary responsibility for assuring the quality of the construction.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Observes Contractor’s construction activities. Accepts work completed in compliance with contract documents, rejects defective work, maintains log of rejected work, assists with resolution of construction issues.

  • Coordinates with Contractor to identify upcoming work; verifies upcoming work against issued look ahead schedules.

  • Reviews contract requirements, submittals, shop drawings, and other associated documentation.

  • Communicates daily with the AECOM Resident Engineer in execution of his/her duties.

  • Communicates daily with Contractor’s field team.

  • Tracks progress of work in field. Monitors Contractor’s adherence to schedule and provides input on Contractor’s payment requests.

  • Inspects work for conformance with contract documents, approved change orders, clarifications, etc.; identifies and reports all nonconforming work; documents all work with daily reports, photos and videos.

  • Tracks and verifies Contractor time and material or force account work.

  • Conducts inspections to ensure that the work is performed in compliance with the contract documents. Ensures delivered materials comply with approved submittals. Observes and approves Contractor’s testing and QA/QC activities.

  • Maintains necessary project documentation, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports and logs. Prepares other required field documentation as necessary.

  • Provides input for construction changes. Assist with preparation and negotiation of field orders and change orders.

  • Observes implementation of health and safety procedures and practices.

  • Performs other assignments as determined by AECOM Resident Engineer.

  • Assists with coordination of contractor work activities with Plant Operations, with focus on civil and structural items coordination.

  • Ensure the delivered materials and equipment is the correct product from approved vendors.

  • Verification that the quality of the work is acceptable

  • Witnessing and verifying the acceptability of all field testing.

  • Tracking quantities installed on a daily basis.

  • Preparing T&M reports as appropriate.

  • Verifies Contractor maintenance of As-Built drawings; confirm with Contractor that this is being carried out; review look-ahead schedules. Verification that work is in accordance with the approved shop drawing and sample Submittals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction inspection roles for industrial infrastructure construction projects.

  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Health and Safety Course (30-hour Preferable)

  • Must have wastewater experience or working on Wastewater Resource Recovery Facilities (WRRFs)

  • SCADA PLC/Automated Systems

  • HVAC Systems Motor Controls principles and Practices

  • Installation of Primary and Secondary Power Feeds for Industrial and Commercial Projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree.

  • Trade experience

  • NYCDEP 4-hr Scaffolding Training

  • NYSDEC 4-hr Erosion and Sediment Control Training

  • NYCDEP BEDC EHS Standards Training (4 Hour)

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $90,000.00 - $120,000.00.
