Job Description

AECOM is seeking Resident Engineers to work on Highway Bridge and infrastructure related Construction Management projects in New York City's five boroughs.

The Resident Engineer:

  • Plans, directs, and supervises all operations included in moderately sized projects with moderate risk, complexity, and financial impact

  • Manages and leads all technical, financial, and client satisfaction areas using consistent processes and tools

  • Manages subconsultants and coordinates with various stakeholders, including contractors, government agencies, and utility companies

  • Manages projects on a local to regional basis achieving quality outcomes, financial performance and client satisfaction

  • Successfully develops strategy, prepares proposals, negotiates contracts, and executes projects.

  • Acts as primary point of contact with clients, maintaining clear and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle

  • Oversees and ensures compliance with all applicable safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control measures on construction sites

  • Reviews and approves project submittals, change orders, and payment applications in accordance with contract documents and agency requirements

  • Conducts regular site inspections to monitor construction progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed

  • Prepares and maintains accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress updates, and technical memoranda

  • Coordinates and leads project meetings with internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders to discuss progress, resolve conflicts, and ensure project goals are met

  • Mentors and provides technical guidance to junior staff members, fostering their professional development and enhancing team performance

  • Utilizes project management software and tools to track schedules, budgets, and resources effectively

  • Collaborates with design teams to address field issues and implement design modifications when necessary

  • Ensures adherence to NYSDOT and NYCDOT standards, specifications, and procedures throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Due to the projects associated with this position a US Citizenship is required

  • Experience with NYSDOT or NYCDOT projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written communications and presentation abilities in internal project settings

  • Software proficiency in Procore, SharePoint, MS Project

  • NICET IV or equivalent, however a PE is preferable and is an agency requirement for some RE positions

  • Microsoft Office, CEES and EBO software, as well as MURK, Federal Aid policies and procedures and the NYS LPM (formally PLAFAP) Manual

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $140,000.00 - $220,000.00.
