Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Engineer to join our team in a fully remote role.

This position is expected to begin in August 2025.

Job Objective: Analyzes design for assigned architectural, structural and MEP conversions to arrive at workable models and ensure constructability. Checks for quality and accuracy of models, correct modeling for 4D schedule simulations and cost, resolves workforce conflicts and creates documentation and representations. Performs all functions and responsibilities in partnership with the company’s culture, corporate vision, ethics and code of conduct.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support project teams with the use of 3D generated site logistics and site phasing.

  • Create accurate 3D models as needed for plan checking and drawing QA, field production, and work flow planning/management.

  • Provide a 4D simulation for construction sequencing and track critical path evolutions by linking 3D models to the construction schedule.

  • Manage and facilitate scheduling coordination meetings.

  • Primary point of contact for management and coordination of 3D content for project team.

  • Aggregate and prepare 3D models providing owner with comprehensive and fully coordinated as-built information upon building close-out.

  • Prepare and maintain database within the as-built model all applicable O&M data for field management staff.

  • Provide training on use of field management data as-built model to owner and FM staff during commissioning.

  • Maintain and expand knowledge base in advanced 3D software through continued use and training.

  • Train project team members in the management and use of electronic construction information.

  • Position typically requires incumbent to be located on site working directly with project team.

  • To perform other responsibilities/duties through personal initiative or as directed by management.

  • Incumbent is involved in the design, implementation, application and continuous updating of technology based on industry standards and the company’s operating needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.

  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Strong verbal and graphic communication skills.

  • Basic understanding of scheduling software.

  • Self motivated and has the ability to work independently or within a team.

  • Strong understanding of construction documents and can accurately interpret prints.

  • Possess technical knowledge of commercial building design and documentation.

  • Strong knowledge base with advanced software (2D and 3D AutoCAD).

  • Experience with Revit MEP, Revit Structure, and Autodesk Revit Architecture are preferred.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $75,000.00 - $85,000.00.
