Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Technical Writer for MARMC to plan, design, write, edit, proofread and finalize documents, technical manuals, orders, specifications, modification work orders, and test plans, procedures and results.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Track workload requirements located in TAAS from data obtained from Fleet technical assists (FTA), TSRA reviews, and Mandatory Technical Requirements (MTR).

  2. Develop briefing of outstanding workload requirements using MS Excel, Power Point and Access for designated combat systems, for each ship entering pre-deployment workups (IFRP ranging from pre COMP2X to deployment).

  3. Analyze current and future Mandatory Technical Requirements (MTR)

  4. Develop Divisional TAAS FTA Health Report to ensure job updates and age requirements are IAW divisional SOP.

  5. Develop status/ tracking reports utilizing MS Access and Excel.

  6. Prepare, update, and maintain various presentation packages consisting of charts, graph handouts; utilizing MS Access, Power Point, Excel and VISO.

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience within last 15 years in technical writing.

  • SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience within the last 5 years performing programmatic and liaison support of varying levels by communicating, presentation of data, establishment of data bases and processes, conducting business, resolving scheduling and milestone date problems for the various customers including the following:

  • 1 year: Experience in technical documentation development including origination of text, layout, and outline. In addition, desired is knowledge of terminology and acronyms used in Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, and Combat Systems specific technical manuals, plans, procedures and other documentation.

  • 1 year: Experience in applicable specifications and standards which govern development and maintenance of technical manuals, test procedures, charts, graphs, and engineering drawings and form and format of various technical data and documentation.

  • 6 months: Experience in the use of computers, data base programs, work processing programs, and graphics programs for writing and editing technical documentation;

  • 6 months: Experience with and accomplished in desktop publishing.

  • Position requires an active Security Clearance and ability to obtain a Common Access Card.
