Job Description

AECOM North Bay is looking for a Highway Design Engineer to add to its growing team.

Reporting to our Project Manager, Transportation, North Bay and working alongside other Engineers / Planners / Technical Specialists, your primary responsibilities for transportation projects will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing engineering support as part of our Team in the preparation of design drawings, contract documents, engineering specifications and cost estimates for provincial / municipal road work;

  • Overseeing the preparation of designs using computer design tools (e.g. CAD, transportation software);

  • Conducting and / or attending client and public meetings;

  • Assisting in the preparation or administration of correspondence, engineering reports, and specifications;

  • Liaising with clients and subconsultants;

  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring for junior staff;

  • Successfully managing project schedule(s), finances, quality and health and safety;

  • Assisting with business development activities such as proposals;

  • Performing a wide range of additional duties intended to support your growth and development within a transportation engineering environment; and,

  • Providing Quality Management reviews by ensuring corporate policies are followed and documented.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering + minimum 4 years experience in transportation design of roads;

  • P.Eng. designation in Ontario; and,

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the transportation planning and design engineering field is preferred;

  • Knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standards and relevant Municipal Standard Tender Documents for Unit Price Contracts;

  • Knowledge of applicable design standards including those published by TAC and MTO;

  • Knowledge of the Provincial / Municipal Class EA process;

  • Experience with AutoCAD (and civil3D) and/or MicroStation (and InRoads/OpenRoads), and other roadway design software;

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English; and,

  • Fluency in technical documentation and proposal writing.

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $75,000.00 - $120,000.00.
