Job Description
AECOM is looking for a Structural Engineer – Site Inspector to provide technical support, quality assurance, and structural inspection services during the construction phase of our projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 4+ years of field experience with a strong background in multi-disciplinary projects, particularly in water and wastewater treatment plants. This role requires both site inspection expertise and technical structural design knowledge, including proficiency in structural analysis and design software.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct structural inspections to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and building codes.
Provide technical support and engineering guidance to construction teams to resolve on-site issues.
Review shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and field modifications for structural components.
Perform quality assurance checks on materials and workmanship, ensuring adherence to contract documents.
Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to address construction challenges.
Monitor and document construction progress, non-conformances, and corrective actions as needed.
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, including municipal and provincial building codes.
Support project close-out activities, including punch lists, final inspections, and documentation.
Utilize structural analysis and design software to verify calculations and structural integrity when needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills:
P.Eng. certification is required for BC.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with minimum 4+ years of structural field experience in construction inspection, quality assurance, or site engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Experience:
Strong technical knowledge in structural design and familiarity with relevant codes (NBC, CSA, ACI standards). Ability to work with structural analysis and design software such as, SAP2000, STAAD- Pro, ETABS, Revit, Auto Cad, or other relevant tools as needed.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary projects, coordinating with civil, mechanical, and electrical teams.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Excellent problem-solving skills to address site-related challenges efficiently.
Strong communication skills to liaise with contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
Proficiency in inspection reporting, documentation, and construction monitoring tools.
Working with reinforced concrete, steel structures, and foundations in an industrial setting.
Familiarity with seismic design considerations for infrastructure projects.
Experience conducting structural condition assessments and field investigations.
Additional Information
Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $85,000.00 - $130,000.00.
