Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineering to be based in our Oakland, CA Office .

JOB SUMMARY:

AECOM is in search of an energetic Junior Electrical Engineer to join our creative Rail and Transit team in the vibrant city of Oakland. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to electrical designs for industrial and commercial power systems under the guidance of our Senior Engineer and Mid-level Engineers. As part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Engineers and Specialists from various disciplines (including Systems Engineering, Signals, Data Communications, and Project Controls), you'll collaborate with Project Managers, Systems Engineers, Signals Engineers, Analysts, and Coordinators to support exceptional outcomes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the development of design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies related to industrial and commercial power systems.

  • Ensure design components meet pertinent industry codes and standards, as well as client expectations, under supervision.

  • Work closely with drafters/designers and other engineers in creating designs for distribution power systems, including One-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, communications, conduit, and cable sizing/routing, and physical layouts.

  • Participate in the problem-solving process on design and engineering issues, contributing ideas and solutions.

  • Engage with the team and clients professionally, addressing technical topics and assisting in resolving discrepancies.

  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to work with the team on schedules, project budgets, and collaboration.

  • Contribute to project planning, risk management, and performance optimization.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

  • Status as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or willingness to pursue.

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial or commercial power systems design or a related engineering field, or relevant internships.

  • Willingness to work in multi-disciplinary teams and learn across varied business units.

  • Understanding of different Phases of the Engineering Design Life.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.

  • Skills in AutoCAD preferred.

  • Willingness to learn and work with power system analysis tools such as SKM and ETAP.

  • Openness to occasional travel to cater to proposal, project, and client needs.

  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 or willingness to learn.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $76,329.30 - $141,209.21.
