Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Process Project Manager in Northern California area. This position will lead efforts in the planning, design and construction of upgrades and new infrastructure for Wastewater Treatment Plants projects across California. This position offers flexibility to be based anywhere in Northern California , with regular visits to client project sites.
This role requires a strong understanding of current and pending regulations and ability to assess and meet client needs. This role will involve advancing cutting-edge technologies in nutrient management, biosolids, energy, asset management, operations and management, collection systems, public outreach, laboratory. pilots, public outreach and much more. We recognize wastewater as one of the most technically dense professions and can provide world-class support for those bold enough to undertake complex assignments.
The selected candidate will be responsible for driving project development, technical innovation, and business growth while ensuring compliance with California’s evolving water and environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of WWTP projects across California, focusing on sustainable and regulatory-compliant solutions.
Apply expertise in local regulations and client requirements to support projects through all phases, from feasibility to commissioning.
Lead in nutrient removal solutions for SF Bay Area and other clients.
Develop and implement advanced DPR, IPR, and AWTP solutions to enhance water recycling and reuse capabilities.
Manage multidisciplinary teams in the design, engineering, and construction phases of large-scale wastewater infrastructure.
Regularly visit project sites across Northern California to oversee progress, coordinate with clients, and ensure project alignment.
Support business development efforts, including preparing proposals, client engagement, and identifying new opportunities in the wastewater sector.
Ensure project budgets, schedules, and quality standards are met while fostering a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirement
BS/BA Civil or Mechanical. Engineering or related discipline and 10 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
Licensed in the State of California as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Mechanical Engineer (ME)
Preferred Requirements
Recognized industry leadership (CWEA, WEF, BACWA, etc.).
Experience managing large-scale projects ($1M+).
Strong background in hydraulics, modeling, DPR/IPR/AWTP technologies, and compliance with California water regulations.
Ability to work remotely in Northern California with travel to project sites.
Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach.
Additional Information
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $160,000.00 - $240,000.00.
