Job Description
The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Water/Wastewater Project Manager, with a focus in water/wastewater infrastructure in our Orlando office. This role within AECOM offers an exciting opportunity to focus on a mix of project delivery, client business growth, technical development, and working with experienced engineering staff by leveraging top notch regional and national water/wastewater expertise and capabilities to expand AECOM’s Orlando area and Florida-wide business. The appropriately qualified applicant will be a seller/doer and will have the opportunity to manage and work with an established team of professional engineers on a variety of water, wastewater, and storm water design projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead and manage the execution of water engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies to meet client requirements and organizational goals.
Coordinate project tasks, monitor progress, and adjust plans as necessary to ensure successful project delivery.
Leading/conducting business development activities, pursuing new clients/projects, and serving as project manager on project deliveries
Collaborate with multidisciplinary technical teams to guide the design and engineering of water-related infrastructure projects (e.g., water treatment plants, stormwater systems, wastewater systems).
Ensure designs are compliant with relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong, positive relationships and ensuring their needs are understood and addressed throughout the project lifecycle.
Regularly update clients on project progress, potential risks, and any changes to scope, budget, or timelines.
Understand client objectives, anticipate needs, and provide strategic recommendations to enhance project outcomes and client satisfaction.
Manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure clear terms, adherence to scope, and protection of project interests.
Review and manage project budgets, ensuring that financial resources are effectively allocated and controlled.
Oversee the invoicing process, ensuring that invoices are accurate, submitted on time, and aligned with contract terms.
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring that issues are addressed proactively and solutions are implemented swiftly.
Ensure project risks are communicated clearly to clients and internal stakeholders, along with contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies.
Implement quality control processes to ensure that all design and construction work meets required standards and specifications.
Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, preparing proposals, and participating in client presentations.
By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Project Manager will play a pivotal role in delivering successful water engineering projects that meet both technical and client expectations while fostering positive relationships with stakeholders.
Work with senior members of our Water Business Line team to seek new municipal business opportunities
Lead client related activities
Participate in local community and industry related events
Provide leadership and mentoring to local staff
Communicate project tasks between offices – high level of coordination and communication skills required.
Makes presentations to clients and internally to staff
Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public will be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives
Team Leadership and Mentoring
Manage and mentor junior engineers and/or technicians, providing leadership, motivation, and career development opportunities.
Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture, ensuring the sharing of knowledge and expertise across disciplines.
Lead the resolution of conflicts or issues that may arise among the project team, clients, or other stakeholders.
Leverage industry knowledge and client relationships to win new work and maintain a strong pipeline of potential projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering- preferably Civil or Environmental
6+ years of related experience, with progressive experience as PE/PM in municipal water/wastewater infrastructure engineering design, assessment and rehabilitation, conveyance, and pumping systems
Proven leadership skills and demonstrated ability to successfully manage diverse teams
Demonstrated business development skills and expertise
Demonstrated client management and project management experience including delivering projects successfully, on time and on budget
Due to the nature of work, must have a valid driver's license
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain Professional license within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Progressive experience in municipal water/wastewater infrastructure engineering design, assessment and rehabilitation, conveyance, and pumping systems water/wastewater
Prefer candidates with 8+ years of related experience in
Experience working in the Orlando area for water/wastewater/stormwater utilities is highly preferred
Experience in managing and/or delivering projects by “alternative delivery” approaches a plus

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $145,000.00.
