Position Title Senior Industrial Hygienist

Under limited supervision, the Senior Industrial Hygienist will be responsible for developing, implementing and administering project industrial hygiene programs affecting employee, public safety and occupational health. Serves as a resource for line management to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for occupational accidents and illnesses; under minimal supervision, responsible for complex technical work in the discipline of Industrial Hygiene, assisting with regulatory interpretation and the development and implementation of industrial hygiene program documents to ensure compliance with organizational industrial hygiene goals; familiarity with Department of Energy (DOE) standards, orders and guidance specifically relating to successful DOE industrial hygiene program requirements; utilizes advanced industrial hygiene exposure assessment strategies and principals to integrate relevant industrial hygiene exposure data and analysis into work planning and control process; prepares and reviews reports and recommends corrective action(s) including technical responsibility for a major phase or component of a project; provides insight and develops continual improvements to a developing industrial hygiene program to identify and prevent hazards and occupational diseases; acts as a lead role for a team of industrial hygiene specialists and demonstrates interest in the development and mentoring of junior industrial hygiene department staff.
This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control and supervision of WTCC.
Provides technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, Federal, State, and/or Company health and safety regulations.
Conducts compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety and health standards of the Company and all applicable codes are followed.
Recommends facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives.
Prepares and reviews technical reports, correspondence, procedures and manuals.
Establishes and maintains licenses and permits as required.
Meets applicable regulatory codes and standards where required.
Senior Industrial Hygienists are expected to pursue and/or complete an ABIH Certification in Industrial Hygiene (CIH).
Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment.

AECOM has joined with Bechtel to create an LLC, known as the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) to construct, start-up and commission the world’s largest radioactive-waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in southeastern Washington state. The project will use vitrification technology to process and stabilize 53 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste currently stored at the Hanford Site which is a byproduct of plutonium-production during World War II and the Cold War era.
The project is the largest undertaking of its kind ever and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects—equivalent to building two nuclear power plants. Its construction site spans 65 acres and includes facilities for pretreatment, low-activity waste vitrification, and high-level waste vitrification, as well as an analytical laboratory.
BS/MS in safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering.
Minimum 10 years or MS degree + 7 years’ experience in a nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing or petroleum refining environment. ABIH Certification (CIH) Preferred . 3 years of Nuclear experience, a Bachelor of Science (BS) may be substituted for up to 3 years of nuclear experience.
Experience in a nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing or petroleum refining environment is preferred.
Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship
