Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Project Controls Analyst I to be based in San Diego, CA .

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • This position reports to the Program Controls Supervisor within the Fiscal Controls group of the Facilities Planning and Construction Division. The program controls team consists of professionals who provide support to the various facilities' capital improvement projects.

  • Under the guidance of the Lead Cost Schedule Engineer and Senior Cost Schedule Engineers, the individual assists the Project Manager with forecasting cost at completion, processing project Records of Change, and quantifying cost risks for school projects.

  • Running reports, reviewing data, and ensuring that costs are assigned to the appropriate cost center in conformance with district policies and procedures.

  • Interfaces with district contract specialists to ensure correct cost coding and payment request processing of contractor and vendor invoices. Assists in the financial closeout of projects and contracts.

  • Assisting the construction management team as related to cost and schedule for projects, as well as the program controls team and project managers with updates of project schedules in P6 and cost data in Primavera Unifier.

  • Introduction to the company's financial and cornerstone systems and processes.

  • Introduction to financial terminology, measures, concepts, and principles for analysis of financial data.

  • Exposure to processes that increase recognition of the financial impact of various project actions, WBS concepts and principles, and basic scheduling and cost baseline fundamentals, concepts and principles.

  • Researching data for subsequent use in analyzing cost and schedule analysis.

  • Developing knowledge of accounting principles and the ability to use drawings and specifications.

  • Exposure to progress/performance data and associated concepts, principles, and concepts and principles of project revenue and cost.

  • Assisting in the collection of progress data and review of performance trends.

  • Developing knowledge of earned value concepts, principles, and methodology.

  • Collecting data and producing an initial analysis on manpower, labor hours, labor cost requirements versus budget limitations, tracking actual cost to funding limitations.

  • Providing support for tracking purchase orders and subcontract commitments and expenditures.

  • Developing knowledge of scope control and change management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, or construction management, or related discipline or comparable experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous cost and schedule experience

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with MS Project, Primavera Project Management (P6), or Primavera Project Planner (P3).

  • Experience with Oracle Primavera Unifier, Primavera Contract Management, E-Builder, Procure, Prolog, PMWeb, or similar project management tools

  • AACEI affiliation, PMI Affiliation, CMAA CMIT affiliation

  • Prior project controls in construction experience preferred.

  • Financial reporting literacy.

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship is not available for this position.

  • This position will work 5 days a week at the client site.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $56,000.00 - $75,000.00.
