Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an exceptionally qualified Tunnel Project Director for immediate employment based out of our San Jose office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in the tunneling industry and have a successful track record of major tunnel design, construction management and/or program management associated with major transportation projects.
The applicant will have extensive experience in planning, and delivery of complex underground projects. The position will report to the Surface Transportation division and will work in a matrix organization with West Coast Transportation leadership and Global Business Line Tunnel practice to assist in winning and delivering new AECOM work with major tunneling components.
In your role as the Tunnel Project Director your primary responsibilities would include the following:
Lead strategy development and implementation for key tunnel pursuits.
Function as Project Director/Program Manager for select complex underground projects including client interface and overall project delivery responsibility.
Oversee and develop tunnel technical resource. Identify talent gaps and lead tunnel talent acquisition strategy in collaboration with the regional leadership. Help attract tunneling talent to AECOM.
Review tunnel delivery quality for the region. Lead strategy for implementing best practices and lessons learned.
Collaborate and participate on opportunities across market sectors in the region and leverage global experience and resources to be more effective in winning and executing underground projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
15 years progressive experience in design and project management of underground projects, and 5 years of leadership experience
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in California, or the ability to obtain within one year of employment
Proven ability to lead and collaborate across geographically disbursed and multidisciplinary teams.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline
Licensed Geotechnical or Structural Engineer in California
Actively engaged with the tunnel design and construction industry
Proven track record with large clients in the region including successful program management and delivery of underground projects
Experience in client prepositioning activities, team (internal and external partners) and proposal development
Background in Progressive Design-Build, GCCM or Public-Private Partnership delivery methods on major tunneling projects
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and people skills
Additional Information
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $181,851.00 - $336,424.00.
