Job Description

The Transportation Group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Cultural Planner for immediate employment in the Savannah, GA office. The candidate will join an excellent team with significant career growth potential.

The Senior Cultural Planner position will support the multidisciplinary environmental group in transportation. The candidate will perform tasks such as fieldwork, research, report writing, data collection and compilation, and GIS mapping. Additionally, they will serve as a technical leader among other duties.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Provides senior-level technical expertise on cultural and environmental studies for infrastructure projects throughout Georgia and the U.S. Southeast.

  • Supports the Project Management team with proposal development and tracking for cultural resources and other environmental deliverables.

  • Serves as environmental task lead on transportation infrastructure projects.

  • Gathers data and other information to be used in the preparation of environmental reports of investigations.

  • Compiles and organizes environmental data collected by others. Works with those who collected the data to understand and interpret data into reporting.

  • Leads the development of cultural resources and environmental documents to include maps/figures, technical reports, assessments of effects, agency coordination, permit applications, MOAs/MOUs, and NEPA documents.

  • Provides risk assessments and status updates for internal and external audiences.

  • Assists management with business development for the Transportation Group.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation or related field, and 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Meets Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeology or Architectural History

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation, or related field

  • Ten years of experience in working with CRM and historic preservation, including the ability to multi-task on a wide range of projects, within interdisciplinary teams, and balance a demanding workload

  • Ten years of experience with Federal and State CRM requirements, processes, and guidance, including Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), NPS National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) bulletins, Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA, and Appendix C of 33 CFR Part 325

  • Ten years of experience with NRHP eligibility criteria and aspects of integrity

  • Experience in performing archaeology or historic resources surveys, preparing reports, and managing cultural resources compliance work for permitting associated with projects administered by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Georgia Ports Authority (GPA), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

  • Experience working with teams to deliver cultural resources compliance deliverables for internal or external clients

  • Experience preparing cultural resources and environmental compliance documentation for federal permits

  • Experience in professional ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Experience in communicating professionally with clients and teams through effective communication skills including responsiveness, detailed assessments, and risk management

  • Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $135,000.00.
