Job Description

AECOM Sudbury is hiring a Design Manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supports, oversees and coordinates engineering production activities for an operating unit.

  • Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.

  • Initiates and maintains contact with senior-level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues.

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to achieve technical excellence in transportation projects.

  • Applies mature judgment in solving both routine and complex operations problems, determining project objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and best practices for highway design.

  • Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments provided in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering + 10 years of experience in highway design OR Technical Diploma + 12 years of highway design experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience delivering projects for the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO).

  • Proven success in leading highway and transportation infrastructure design teams in northern and central Ontario.

  • Experience managing project teams within both office and field environments.

  • Strong knowledge of MTO standards and project delivery processes.

  • Civil Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills developed over a multi-decade career in highway design and team leadership.

Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $140,000.00 - $220,000.00.
