Job Description

The role is responsible for supporting end-to-end project accounting life cycle activities for multiple assigned projects, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of project financials. The role will be involved with stakeholder coordination to execute processes that will drive the completion of assigned projects. The role is also responsible for overseeing a small team of Project Accountants, reviewing reports, and providing technical guidance on complex projects. This role requires strong understanding of project accounting principles and the ability to balance technical project execution with limited people management activities.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Meet month-end deadlines to ensure timely reporting and posting of adjustments

  • Ensure compliance with SOX and internal delegations of authority (DOA) / approval matrix requirements to

  • Involve self in contract commercial reviews and project proposals

  • Research GL account reconciliations, cash and AR adjustments

  • Acts as the point of contact in audit-related activities and prepare audit responses

  • Act as a process expert – using advanced knowledge to support highly complex and/or large-scale projects

  • Perform highly complex tasks that support multiple and varied projects in compliance with the contract, service level agreement, define methodologies, and procedures

  • Perform in-depth project analysis and provide recommendations based on findings

  • Provide analysis, resolutions, and recommendations for highly complex process improvements and technical issues through existing technical procedures and methodologies

  • Contribute specialized expertise to different assigned projects and may provide key updates to Team Lead

  • Review project financials for accurate revenue recognition

  • Review project financial status and presents in project reviews

  • Support the Team Lead/Manager in overseeing a team of Project Accountants, including, but not limited to handling escalations, managing disputes related to project financials, providing technical guidance and support, and reviewing and improving processes and policies

  • Perform project reviews and provide guidance to junior members of the team

  • Support and train junior members of the team in addressing complex issues

  • Distribute work assignments and monitor workload, to utilize staff and meet the projects, Regions, Business Lines objectives effectively

  • Review and provide insights on the SOP/DTP of current processes and the incorporated documentation updates

  • Review proposed alternatives in identified issues and assist in investigating and in resolving common and unusual issues

  • Proactively articulate the capabilities of the GBS Center PA role of project support staff across various Regions, Business Lines, levels of company management and cross functional staff

  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial controls and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness

  • Participate in ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent relevant courses

  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in Project Accounting or equivalent experience in Finance/General Accounting

  • Knowledge and understanding of end-to-end project lifecycle, project accounting concepts & methodology, and contract types.

  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office tools & MS Teams application

  • Experience in a shared service or captive set-up is an advantage.

  • Experience working with ERP, i.e. Oracle and Blackline Systems is an advantage or other similar platforms and tools
