Material Handling Laborer/Forklift Operator in
Performs range of duties in the receipt, stow, kitting and issue of material with minimal instruction. Ensures items being stowed or shipped meet requirements of MIL STD 129N. May use anti-static devices. May receive daily work assignments from a Material Handler Lead.
- Supplemental job function is Forklift Operator. Forklift Operators maneuver powered industrial equipment to move cases, pallets and containers and put them into their assigned slots in the warehouse or storage area.
Perform physical tasks to transport or store materials or merchandise. Duties involve one or more of the following: manually loading or unloading freight cars, trucks, or other transporting devices; unpacking, shelving, or placing items in proper storage locations; or transporting goods by hand truck, cart, or wheelbarrow.
Performs tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience. The following tasks are typical of this position: loads and unloads trucks and other conveyances moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck; stacks materials for storage or binning and collects refuse and salvageable materials.
Moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture equipment and appliance moves heavy pieces of automotive and other types of machinery and equipment and picks up trash
Transports, loads/unloads stock and materials of all kinds within a warehouse or other storage facilities using equipment such as forklifts and hand truck
Performs basic operator safety checks and PMCS on movement equipment used in performance of duties
Help maintain a clean warehouse and sweep out empty slots.
Fill in for the Warehouse Selectors, and other positions, as business needs demand.
High School diploma
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and completing check list
1-2 years experience as a forklift operator
Certification in pallet truck and forklift operations (on or before his or her start date in the position)
Ability to obtain a US Gov’t forklift license
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Ability to perform job duties up to a 72 hours per week
Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures
Must be able to lift 25 Lbs continuously, 50 Lbs intermittently
