Job Description

The Transportation Business Line is actively seeking a highly motivated Resident Engineer for immediate employment in Tucson, Arizona.

This position will be responsible for staff supervision, project execution, business development and collaboration with Arizona Transportation leadership staff in coordination with the Arizona Construction Department Manager. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in the CM industry and have a successful track record of major ADOT and municipal projects. The applicant will have demonstrated experience in developing teams, managing engineering and technical staff, past successful approaches to managing ADOT projects through construction, including projects completed using alternative delivery approaches. The position also requires the ability to lead teams to successfully execute and deliver projects working with construction contractors under traditional and alternative delivery methods.

The Resident Engineer serves as a point of contact to the client and acts as a liaison between management and clients on advanced issues; interacts with executive level government or public officials and/or executive level clients on significant project matters often requiring coordination between organizations and assesses and manages risk on behalf of AECOM and the client.

  • Under minimal supervision, performs complex duties utilizing advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and methods.

  • Assumes lead responsibilities for a team of engineers and professional support staff.

  • Establish relationships with both external and internal clients and customers, including industry associations and other potential consultant team members and construction contractors

  • Serve as a project Resident Engineer for ADOT, municipalities, or counties

  • Successfully develops strategies, prepares cost proposals, negotiates change orders, and executes projects

  • Be a visible leader and trusted advisor to clients by promoting AECOM’s values both internally and externally

  • Directly manage projects and support staff in project development and delivery, including scoping, budgeting, contract negotiations, project management and resident engineering

  • Proven track record of managing ADOT construction projects

  • Construction management, inspection and field support experience with local agencies, cities, counties and/or ADOT projects

  • Coordinating with clients and construction contractors to successfully execute and deliver projects

  • Assist bridge/highway design disciplines with constructability questions or issues

  • Participate in Regional/Branch management meetings to report on construction management issues and opportunities

  • Familiarity with local and federal funding and CM project development and delivery.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering plus 8 + years of project management experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Travel outside of Tucson, AZ may be required

  • Registered Professional Engineer in Arizona

  • Valid Driver’s License required

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $125,000.00 - $150,000.00.
