Job Summary

This candidate will be part of the team who will test the new patches, firmware, updates and settings on servers and custom mission support equipment on East Coast Combined Tactical Training Ranges. The ideal candidate would be able to work with geographically dispersed team environment responsible for the management of diverse, complex, and ever changing DoD networks.

Responsible for the day to day testing of Windows Server patches, and custom settings in support of a classified and unclassified DoD network in the test and evaluation enclave. Maintains, Installs and configures servers, workstations, and other related equipment, devices, and systems. Provides technical guidance for the installation, maintenance and monitoring of an Unclassified and Classified Wide Area Network (WAN) and provide network administration support for VMWare Virtualized Microsoft Windows and Linux Servers and Workstations. Maintains a Microsoft Windows based network infrastructure including, Microsoft Active Directory with IAS / RADIUS, DNS, and Access Control Lists in a test environment. Supports Network and System Vulnerability Assessment and Re mediation, Backups and Disaster Recovery. Maintains up-to-date equipment and software inventories. Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct system malfunctions, operational difficulties, and re-mediate vulnerabilities (Tier 3 support). Position requires ability to participate in an on-call rotation (outside normal working hours or weekends) to supporting the Network Infrastructure to address critical outages.

Minimum Requirements

Requires Bachelor’s Degree plus 4 years of Server Administration experience or at least 10 years of network administration in combination with IT Training, IT Certifications and progressively relevant work experience:

  • Plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise Microsoft infrastructure (TIER 3 support as needed).

  • Design, integration and implementation of Navy tactical and training networks Microsoft infrastructure.

Minimum Experience Requirements

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the following areas:

  • Implementing and maintaining Enterprise Level Microsoft Domain infrastructure

  • Advanced Windows Server Administration

  • Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, RADIUS, DNS, Access Control Lists.

  • Ability to successfully manage and maintain current patch levels on servers in a test environment using automated Patch Management solutions such as WSUS.

  • Installing and maintaining VMware server.

  • Must have a strong grasp of computer system security to include Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security technical Implementation Guides (STIG)

  • Backups and Disaster Recovery systems

  • Participates in primary on call rotation supporting the Server Infrastructure and be available for after-hours and weekend support of critical servers as necessary (Tier 3 support).

  • Must maintain DoD 8570.1/ 8140 certification requirements for IAT-II

  • Documented formal training in maintaining 2008 or later Microsoft Servers and Active Directory Domain infrastructure.

  • Documented formal training in Linux Server Administration (May be required)

Must possess and maintain a DoD Secret level Security Clearance and a valid state issued driver's license
