Job Description

As part of our continued growth, our Winnipeg office has an opportunity for an Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in delivering conceptual, preliminary and detailed design phases, construction services in Industrial and/or municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities. They will work in a team environment to deliver advanced water and wastewater treatment facilities and large pumping station projects to our clients based in Western Canada and the USA.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design of electrical power and distribution systems, lighting, grounding and control systems

  • Design and supervise production of drawings and specifications for complete automation systems including field and panel control devices and SCADA for various processes including water/wastewater treatment and utility and mining applications.

  • Design experience with MV/HV substation Single Line Diagrams, AC/DC schematic, Protection and control systems, and substation grounding.

  • Experience in protection relay selection and settings.

  • Strictly adhere to AECOM's project and Quality standards, including capability of learning and adopting clients' standard and requirements upon request

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical aspect on project documentation produced in accordance with AECOM QA/QC procedures and the clients' standards.

  • Ensure that project deliverables are produced in a timely manner to expected quality and allocated budget.

  • Work with Construction Contract Administrator to review Shop Drawings, prepare and issue responses to contractor queries.

  • Perform site inspections and issue inspection reports, issue Field Instructions and Field Orders, and prepare deficiency reports.

  • Provide technical support through all phases of the project.

  • Understands the importance of meeting schedules, deadlines and good time management.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / I&C Engineering + 4 years of related experience in engineering design in a multi-disciplinary electrical, instrumentation & control environment for production, including field services during construction phase of projects.

  • Registered as a P.Eng in Manitoba or ability to become registered within 6-12months.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideally 10+ years of experience in engineering design and field experience in a multi-disciplinary electrical, instrumentation & control environment for production, including field services during construction phase of projects.

  • Proven track record in design and production of tender documents such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, control network diagrams, electrical hazardous area & grounding drawings, electrical and instrument location drawings, loop & schematic wiring diagrams; developing equipment load schedules, cable & tray calculations, instrumentation indices & standard details.

  • Familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), Manitoba Building Code,

  • Design experience with low voltage (600V) MCCs and communication systems will be an asset.

  • Must be able to interpret engineers' notes & specifications and convert into detailed design drawings accurately in timely manner with minimum amount of supervision.

  • Experience in MV/HV substation design including physical switchyard, protection and control systems.

  • Experience in the design of PLC based systems an asset.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

  • Critical thinking to identify issues, present solutions and follow through to ensure completion.

  • Capable of collaborating and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Employment sponsorship not offered for this role.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $120,000.00.
